Boxer Jake James, Sponsored By Speedy Freight, Extends Unbeaten Pro Record To 10-0
Here at Speedy Freight, we are immensely proud to be sponsoring UK boxer Jake “The Jackal” James as he bids to achieve his dream of becoming a world champion. On Saturday night, he moved one step closer, securing a hugely impressive second round KO against Eligio Palacios at the Whites Hotel in Bolton.
Trained by former WBA world champion Anthony Crolla, Jake is making superb progress and boasted a 9-0 record going into this weekends fight. While injuries and delays could’ve stunted progress in 2021, his drive and hunger is more evident than ever, two characteristics which were on display in an eye-catching two round demolition job.
Jake was initially scheduled to step in with the vastly experienced 26-7-1 Ghanian champion Joseph Lamptey, in what would be a notable clash against a veteran who’s locked horns with the likes of Sam Eggington. However, due to Visa issues, Lamptey was forced to withdraw, with a number of opponents stepping in and out of the picture. Finally, Jake faced off against replacement opponent Palacios.
Such last minute turbulence throws up its own challenges, regardless of opponent level. Throughout the annals of combat sport history, we’ve seen a number of late replacements upset the odds. Just ask Anthony Joshua. For Jake, however, it was business as usual, securing the KO with a smart right uppercut to the body to end the scheduled eight round bout early and take his impressive pro win tally into double figures.
Following his victory, Jake said “it was a difficult week with a lot of things changing which were out of my control. Opponents, fighting weight, how many rounds I’m fighting and more. But I’ve learnt to stay professional and only focus on the things I can control, it’s pointless worrying about what I can’t. So I stayed focused and delivered a clinical performance against a fighter who has been in with some top guys, never being stopped inside 4 rounds. So it stands me in good stead moving forward.” Casting an eye on the future, he went on to remark “I am hoping to fight for my first title this year and get an opportunity on a big TV show. I believe at 10-0, I am ready now.”
Speedy Freight sends huge congratulations to Jake and his team. The road to the top is a long one, but Jake is making commendable progress and knocking down every obstacle in his way. His record is now 10-0, with 3 KO’s, and it’s certain that big things are on the horizon. Everyone here at Speedy Freight will be supporting every step of the way.
