The Edward Brown Consulting Rising Star Award - Francesca Hughes
Speedy Freight Graduate Management Trainee, Francesca Hughes, has been nominated for the Edward Brown Consulting Rising Star Award at the 2022 Supply Chain Excellence Awards. Francesca joined us in August 2020, and has recently been project managing the implementation of a warehouse management system across the organisation.
She has also provided support for one of Speedy's biggest client accounts and the opening of new two warehouses in Knutsford and Northampton. Francesca previously served on the freight forwarding team, supporting Speedy Freight customers who trade internationally - especially amid Brexit.
Francesca has proven to be an invaluable addition to the team, and is truly a rising star. We are proud to see how far she has come over the past two years, and we have no doubt she will be a driving force behind Speedy's continued success.
The Supply Chain Operations Award - Best Use of People
Since launching in 2006, we have consistently proven to be a highly professional, customer-motivated firm that is driven by great leadership, expertise, flexibility and above all, a passion for logistics.
We have grown exponentially, and we don't plan to slow down. As such, our contribution to the UK and international supply chain has been recognised across the industry. Our agility, courier network strength and the ability to offer highly customisable solutions makes us an attractive logistics solution for clients across the UK and overseas.
Over the years, we have continuously expanded our services, invested in training and development and improved our software and systems, consistently adding value to the supply chain.
We've recently acquired five warehousing facilities across our network, equating to approximately 100,000 square feet of space, and further development is planned. A key driver behind our expansion into warehousing is a result of listening to client needs and acting upon what has become an emerging trend.
For example, our expansion into warehousing has helped us to better serve our long standing client, Ekornes - the largest producer of furniture in Norway. We receive their Stressless furniture from Norway into the UK, utilising our warehouses in Glasgow, Knutsford (just off the M6) and Northamptonshire.
We unpack their containers, manage their stock inventory, consolidate and load goods to deliver to 165 independent retailers in bulk and direct to customers' homes, via our two man white glove service.
We manage all Ekornes customer communication with delivery ETA text messages, KPI reporting and customer returns. We store and distribute 50,000 items of furniture each year.
The Manufacturing Supply Chain Excellence Award
The Manufacturing Supply Chain Excellence award recognises the techniques, projects, or processes where supply chains have benefitted from the supply of industrial equipment - something that Speedy Freight has contributed to immensely in recent years.
The manufacturing industry has long been reliant on a smooth supply chain and reliable logistics. Our services are highly sought after by manufacturing firms because of our ability to keep supply chains and production lines moving.
As a quick, responsive courier service, we have grown our manufacturing customer base considerably over the years, supporting firms who need to move parts or food manufacturers needing to restock ingredients.
Offering more than a transportation service, we help manufacturing companies to plan, coordinate, and optimise their logistics to ensure maximum efficiency when they need it most.
New Category: The Customer Service Award
A totally new category introduced by the Supply Chain Excellence Awards for 2022, the Customer Service Award recognises those companies who are setting the standard in the delivery of exceptional customer experiences through multiple channels.
Delivering exceptional customer service is at the forefront of everything we do. We have an exemplary Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 90 which places us far and above the industry standard. We also have a 5 star Trustpilot rating, further highlighting how our dedication to customers has been well-received.
While our services have long included same day, next day and express delivery on dedicated vehicles, we’ve used our expertise to offer a one-stop logistics shop. We’re so much more than a same day courier service, we’re problem solvers. Customers come to us with their logistics challenges because we can provide solutions quickly.
In addition to our same day, next day and express delivery services, we offer a wide range of 'added value' services that can be tailored to customer requirements, including:
-
Route planning solutions
-
Multi-drop deliveries to businesses and homes
-
Two-person delivery crews
-
Temperature controlled transport
-
Goods on hanger and carton deliveries for fashion
-
End to end import and export service (clearance/agent allocation and haulage)
-
Full load support (short-term and long-term traction and trailer support)
-
Bespoke warehousing and cross-docking facilities
-
Car transportation
-
Waste removal
-
Document delivery
-
Full day and half day rates
-
Driver cover
It's our flexibility and ability to listen to customer requirements that has driven our customer service ratings to the highest levels. We pay very close attention to customer trends, and because we have a huge courier network and a fleet of specialist vehicles, we are able to accommodate customer needs at a moment's notice.
We have an endless amount of stories we can tell about the lengths we go to to support our customers - some of which you can read here. It’s these stories, which happen on a daily basis, that can be credited with a large part of why our customer service ratings are exemplary.
Final Thoughts
We're looking forward to attending the prestigious Supply Chain Excellence Awards later this year, and we'd like to thank you, our customers, for helping to make this possible. We'd also like to thank the entire Speedy Freight team across the UK and overseas who work tirelessly to support our customers - your work is seen and valued.
Watch this space to see how we get on when the results are announced in November.
